Sydney Ross Mitchell Releases New EP Cynthia on Disruptor Records

February 10, 2026 - Singer-songwriter Sydney Ross Mitchell has officially released her highly anticipated new EP, Cynthia, via Disruptor Records on February 6, 2026. Across eight tracks, the Lubbock, Texas native explores the tension between her religious upbringing and her present-day life in Los Angeles, tracing a deeply personal landscape where desire, guilt, self-indulgence, and grace coexist.
Produced by Mason Stoops (Lizzy McAlpine, Role Model), Jonathan Wilson (Angel Olsen, Father John Misty), Michael Harris (Mk.gee, Noah Kahan), and Sammy Witte (Harry Styles, Maggie Rogers), Cynthia moves fluidly between soaring arrangements, stripped-back emotional performances, and anthemic choruses. The result is a project that mirrors the emotional complexity of Mitchell’s songwriting with striking sonic range.
The EP introduces four previously unreleased tracks, including today’s focus single, “Kisses on Ice.” Light and playful yet emotionally grounded, the song challenges the familiar cliche that life, and love, must always move fast. “This is a love song that exalts patience, not out of desperation, but from a joyful confidence that what’s meant to be will find its way,” Mitchell explains. “There is liberation in expressing devotion so unabashedly and without urgency.”
“Victory Lap Whiplash” examines the ways desire and attraction can turn inward, creating conflict both with others and oneself. “Dorothy” reflects on the presence of a muse woven throughout the project, while the closing track, “May The Landing Come Softly,” stands as Mitchell’s most vulnerable songwriting moment to date. The song confronts her childhood struggles with faith, mortality, and fear of the afterlife, voicing doubt alongside a longing for belief.
The EP also includes three previously released tracks: “Big Boy Problems,” “Queen of Homecoming,” and the title track “Cynthia,” inspired by a real-life encounter with an older woman in a strip club bathroom who urged Mitchell to change course after claiming to receive a vision from God.
Raised as the only girl among brothers in a West Texas town where faith, family, and football defined daily life, Mitchell developed a sharp sense of resilience early on. After relocating to Los Angeles, she balanced waiting tables with songwriting, gradually carving out a space in the city’s creative community. Her sound exists at the crossroads of Americana storytelling and pop transcendence, defined by plainspoken honesty and a constant search for meaning.
Mitchell broke through in 2024 with her single “Forward to the Kill,” earning a co-sign from SZA and support from Zane Lowe, who featured the track on his Apple Music radio show and playlist. Whether performing solo or backed by a full band, her commanding stage presence and emotionally raw performances have resonated with audiences across North America and the UK.
